1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using FieldLog ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

FieldLog is a voice-first field notebook application that allows users to:

  • Tag locations and record GPS coordinates
  • Record voice notes and transcriptions
  • Capture and store photos
  • Create structured field logs and observations
  • Export data as KMZ files
  • Sync data across devices (when connected to internet)

The App is currently offered as a closed beta for testing and evaluation purposes. Features and performance may change without notice.

3. User Accounts

  • Account Creation: You may need to create an account to use certain features
  • Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
  • Accurate Information: You must provide accurate and complete information
  • One Account: You may only create one account per person

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use FieldLog only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree NOT to:

  • Use the App for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • Violate any laws or regulations in your jurisdiction
  • Infringe on the rights of others
  • Upload malicious code or attempt to hack the service
  • Share your account credentials with others
  • Use the App to collect data about others without consent

5. Content and Data

  • Your Content: You retain ownership of all content you create using FieldLog
  • License to Us: You grant us a limited license to store and process your data to provide the service
  • Data Export: You can export your data at any time using the KMZ export feature
  • Data Deletion: You can delete your account and data at any time
  • Backup: We recommend keeping your own backups of important data

6. Privacy and Data Protection

Your privacy is important to us. Our collection and use of your information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

7. Subscription and Payment

FieldLog is currently provided free of charge as part of a closed beta program. No subscription fees or payments are required at this stage.

We may introduce paid plans or subscription options in the future once the product is publicly released. In such a case, users will be informed in advance, and new terms outlining pricing, payment methods, and cancellation rights will apply.

Any future paid use of the Service will be optional and subject to separate agreement.

8. Intellectual Property

  • Our Rights: FieldLog and its original content are owned by us
  • Your Rights: You retain rights to your own content
  • Third-Party Content: Some features may use third-party services
  • No Reverse Engineering: You may not reverse engineer or copy the App

9. Service Availability

  • Best Effort: We strive to provide reliable service but cannot guarantee 100% uptime
  • Maintenance: We may perform maintenance that temporarily affects service
  • Offline Mode: The App works offline, but some features require internet
  • Updates: We may update the App to improve functionality

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FieldLog shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.

11. Termination

  • Your Right: You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time
  • Our Right: We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these Terms
  • Effect of Termination: Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately

12. User Content and Responsibility

Users are solely responsible for any content they create, upload, or share through FieldLog. You must not use the service to store, transmit, or distribute content that is illegal, hateful, pornographic, or infringes upon the rights of others. We reserve the right to remove or restrict access to any content or to suspend or block user accounts that violate these Terms or applicable laws.

13. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or through the App. Continued use constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

14. Liability

FieldLog is provided "as is" during its beta phase, without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We make no guarantees regarding availability, reliability, or accuracy of the service or any data generated through it. To the extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use FieldLog.

Since FieldLog is offered solely for testing and evaluation, users agree that they use the application entirely at their own risk.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany. The FieldLog beta is provided for testing and evaluation purposes only and does not constitute a commercial offer. We do not participate in voluntary dispute resolution procedures outside of statutory obligations. Any matters arising will, where applicable, fall under the jurisdiction of the courts of Berlin, Germany.
